  1. Hi, Short Story. In 2001-2 i wanted to learn how to work a P.C., so i started Writting my own Life Story. It was a task and half for me, as Writting was Not Top of my List. Two Thing it seemed to have helped with, is my Writting is more interesting. By Writting my own Life Story, i have Had to use my own Memory to fill in the spaces. My Mother passed away in 2005, do to a Family upset with my Sister I do Not Talk to her. Two years ago my Brother was told he Had the sad illiness, so all the Information in the Story is from my own Memory. One of the Things it also helped with is, my own Day to Day Memory seems better. I do Not stand at the bottom of the stairs, beföre i remember what i was going UP stairs for. You can find Some Details on the Internet, Enter Fondmoment Memory Diary. Regards Colin.

  4. So glad you commented to a post I made on Youtube. To read your thoughts about dementia are helping me to understand it better. My only regret is that my Mom hid it from us, and we didn’t realize how much she could have used our help. We would have taken the journey with her had we known.

  5. Dear Tru, Thank you for your insights and inspiration.

I am doing a PhD at Newcastle University in England.

I am investigating physical activity for people with dementia. You may be aware of research in this area. There is tentative evidence that physical activity may reduce disease progression.

My research is focused on enabling people with dementia to maintain active lives. I have not interviewed anyone yet (as I have to overcome university ethics requirements first!).

Whilst I prepare my research, your blog has been extremely useful. I used your blog on communication to help me to write clear information sheets. Your communication blog will also help me to conduct my interviews in an ‘dementia friendly’ fashion.

I think that you are an inspirational woman. Not just for your endeavour to educate about dementia but in dealing with disability and life in general!

    With best wishes,

    Lizzie

  6. PS. I just realised that there is a very poignant message on my desktop. I wonder if you have come across this quote before:

“Be happy in the moment, that’s enough. Each moment is all we need, not more.” Mother Teresa

I try to reflect on this message as my head gets swamped with the pressures of study! I guess it might be a useful reflection for those living with dementia too?

In addition, Rivet Revolution is partnering with two rock star organizations to make an impactful difference in the revolution to end Alzheimer’s: Part the Cloud and Mikey Hoag & Stanford Neurological Research and Dr. Frank Longo.
