From my friend Harry Urban, living with Alzheimer’s diagnosis since Jan 2004 (22 years now). He is one of my primary mentors and specializes in accepting life as it IS, living in the moment, and using craft projects to stay involved, keeping dementia symptoms in perspective with priority of living life. Harry shared these words on 7 February 2026 and the laser-craft project on 22 January 2026.
I know it is cold outside so why complain about it, there is nothing I can do about it. This is also true with my dementia, I know it is going to get harder for me but like it getting colder outside, there is nothing I can do about it.
If I can keep that thought in mind, life will be so much easier for me. We at times tend to play the what ifs games and worry about what may be down the road that we miss out on the JOYS we could be having now.
Worrying about the future is natural and maybe we can’t help doing it, but planning would certainly help a lot more. Planning ahead will ease the worries of what may come in the future and give you the opportunity to enjoy those days.

Of coarse Hazel want to hang it in the kitchen.”
Ai nicely summarizes the above as “… uses the cold weather as a metaphor for facing dementia, emphasizing that some things—like the weather or the progression of dementia—are beyond our control. It encourages accepting what cannot be changed rather than worrying about it, pointing out that worrying about the future or playing “what if” games can prevent us from enjoying the present. The document suggests that while worrying is natural, planning for the future can help ease anxieties and allow us to better appreciate each day.”

Due to wood dust and respiratory issues … along with dementia symptoms, Harry is now unable to do much on the Lathe,so he has found some alternate gift-giving CRAFTS:
These days, Harry Urban does a lot of “Diamond Art Painting” (which is adding craft rhinestones to canvas; similar to cross-stitch and paint-by-numbers. He is also currently quite involved with 3D printer projects.
.Harry is living with Alzheimer ‘s-type dementia and probably also vascular-type dementia.

My current formal diagnosis is still clinically at stage of “Mild Cognitive Impairment”, altho my Primary Care Physician and several other medical personnel disagree. In the past several years, We have agreed to quit seeing specialists for further clinical clarification of diagnosis and stage. Specialists are too far away, and the emotional roller-coaster is not worth it to me. My dementia symptoms are mostly Lewy Body and Vascular types of dementia symptoms, but SPECT and PET scans show my brain damage is currently most serious in the temporal lobes, which creates a lot of similarities with Logopenic variant of PPA (sub-type of Fronto-Temporal type of dementia). Current theory for the cause of my dementia symptoms is 33 years of un-diagnosed and un-treated Lyme and Babesia (which specifically targets the brain functions) before 5 years of intensive treatment for tick-borne diseases, plus probable nocturnal seizures. … ******* … Text Copyright © Harry Urban on 07Feb2026, and photo copyright to Harry Urban on 22Jan2026. … You can find more about me in this blog under the “About Me” tab (although that page was posted long ago and also needs an update).
