“Bits ‘n Pieces of Me: Memoirs to retain identity in the face of growing dementia” — unpublished pg 2c-05: 1982 January:

Brad & his Uncle Spence.

Since I had a severe infection after Brad’s cesarean birth,
my 21-year-old brother Spence took time out to care for Brad during the week of my daughter Charlene’s birth.
Spence usually worked on the Fire crew for Forest Service during the summer,
and attended college (on football scholarship with forestry major) during the year.
This was the first week of January 1982.
I had another infection but didn’t need to spend a full week in hospital, like I did with Brad’s birth.
It was such a help to have my brother there when I got home..
