Coloring Books for Grown Ups-Meditation and Relaxation
There are many forms of meditation and relaxation.  While we usually think about Yogis and other forms of practiced focusing on written passages to clear and calm the mind, there are other less formal and complicated options.  Coloring books for adults can also induce the same peaceful state of mind.  This works because you must focus on your coloring and clear your mind of other issues.

You might be surprised to know that there are many coloring books for adults.  There are different styles one of which is a focus on nature and geometric patterns.  The best thing about it for me is that I can create art without drawing.  I have absolutely no drawing skills, but I can color.  You can purchase coloring books, preprinted sheets or simply download them from the internet.  Amazon is a good starting point, but there are many sources online and in stores. I prefer to color mandalas.

A mandala in its simplest form is merely a circle.  The word “mandala” is translated from Sanskrit as a “circle or sacred circle”.   They have three main properties.   They are circular, symmetrical and they have a boundary and a center.  There is a tremendous amount of history behind these drawings and have been drawn and colored throughout the years, but that is not necessary to know.

I use both colored pencils and markers for definition.  Here are a couple of examples of some of them:

I hope you will find them very relaxing and rejuvenating!
