Mom was the mother of four children under five years old.
Julie and I were four years old, Michelle (Shelly) was two,
and Spence was a baby.
Breakfast was always us kids’ special time with Dad;
when he arrived home from his night job at the railroad,
and before his four-hour sleep
prior to his afternoon job as auto mechanic,
and then maybe swing-shift job loading boxcars.

Dad sometimes gave Mom a written invitation to breakfast.
He called this the “Fallout Room” of the “Running Sink Hotel”
because sink had been left running upstairs,
creating damage downstairs.
