Arts and Crafts

Tru here.

Arts and Crafts have been an important part of my life since i was very VERY young.  As i have said, Creating makes me feel alive, so I want to THINK that I can do sewing and stuff for as long as possible (even after I am not really capable of doing it).

Currently writing an entry about the 54 Valentine Cards i created this year, with multiple unique designs.  Not finished yet, but …

Projects used in past blog entries:

Digital creation 10Mar 2018 using http://www.weavesilk.com ;

Made 12 Valentine cards using supplies i created from Sizzix die-cutting machine Feb 2018.  Took me slightly more than one month of effort to make 12 cards.

above is another Zentangle project.

Design and crochet collar Oct2016. Also designed fragrances for family.  This photo was used in 28Oct2016 blog page description of creating my personal fragrance (composed of essential oils).  https://truthfulkindness.com/2016/10/28/fragrance-craft-and-my-nose/ .  PS: i was never taught to crochet; do not know standard “stitches” and cannot follow pattern.  i was covering hangers as gifts when my mother-in-law told me that i was crocheting … and that there was an easier way to do it.  So stitches in this collar may have names, but i have never been taught to do those stitches.  i made this with reminder hints like “12 basic then give 3 twists and double back, along with some fanciful knots, etc.

. “Snowflake below was drawn 09Nov2015 to go with a Family history entry, then i used it and others i drew to create photoshop graphic for blog entry above.

Sep2015; Crochet collar, and set of cuffs for Autumn/Winter.  This is my 5th attempt at making cuffs — and this time I finally succeeded. Coping mechanisms: Keep simple instructional videos from youTube handy for when I forget how to cast-on. Use only multiples of 3, 7, or 12 stitches, so if it looks like I have been doing only a few stitches then it must be 3, or if a lot then it is a multiple of 12. Cannot keep track of which direction I am going when I get interrupted, so every time I change direction I move my “stitch marker”.

Made fabric flowers on teeny elastic bands, to fit over hair clamps around my head-covering. 2015.

I have been asked how I created picture above.  I spent a couple hours making little black dots of varying intensity in my basic desired shape on white index paper (because took several Photoshop courses 10yrs ago & use Photoshop several times a day, so was sure I could use Photoshop to make it a negative).  Tried each one of the Photoshop filters & could not find what was looking for …  apparently I remembered wrong.  So went back over each filter again looking for alternatives.  Found several filters that emphasize edges (don’t remember names).  After that I selected background “space” & painted it dark purple, then subtly revised coloring with another filter (don’t remember which) creating slight shadings of blues and reds from the background purple.  Then used the clone tool finalizing the shapes for picture.  Using filters takes me a lot of time because (just like finding physical tools in physical drawers) I keep forgetting where things are and what they do, so every few minutes I need to go back & open drawers to look again.  Sometimes I can look straight at a physical tool I use daily (like a hair barrette) and not register its use, so it is no surprise that looking at a word in “filter” column of Photoshop menu does not trigger memories for its function.  At any rate it took slightly over 8hrs to compose picture but I think it portrays my thought.  😀

..ZenDoodle above was made 23Jul2013, don’t remember purpose.

Drew this to go with a piece i wrote 19Jul2013
