Hello Reader. Tru here.
I descend from many generations of pilgrims and frontier folk—people who discovered and shared ways of living on little-known paths. Those traveling beside them benefited from what they learned.
Living with dementia symptoms has become my own frontier.
This blog began as my personal mailbag—a place to gather and share practical coping strategies from the perspective of someone walking this path. Over time, it has become something more.
My husband, Guy, now helps shape each entry. After I finish writing, he often asks, “Is this what you meant?” or “Would you like to say a little more about…?” These conversations have become part of the writing itself. Although the words begin with me, many now become ours.
The Pony Express rider carried messages across difficult country so others could remain connected. I have always loved that image.
Today, I think of this blog as a MailRoom.
Some of the letters come from me.
Some come from friends living with dementia (in DSP tab).
Together they carry ideas, encouragement, questions, and coping strategies between those who walk this frontier and those who walk beside us—family, friends, clinicians, and caregivers.
My hope is that one day the lived experience of people with dementia will be valued as an essential source of knowledge for those newly beginning the journey.
Welcome to the MailRoom.

* Admin Notes — Began project 2026May07. This entry is by Truthful Loving Kindness (my full legal name) for https://truthfulkindness.com/. For comments or questions, please use that website. The subscription box is now located at the bottom of each blog entry. My full legal name is Truthful Loving Kindness. My current formal diagnosis remains at the stage of Mild Cognitive Impairment, although my Primary Care Physician and several other medical professionals consider it some form of dementia; my PCP records currently state “Dementia without behavioral disturbance, unspecified dementia type.” In recent years, my PCP, my husband/care-partner, and I have jointly decided to discontinue specialist consultations, as the distance and emotional strain of repeated evaluations are not worth the cost to my well-being. My symptoms most closely resemble Lewy Body and vascular dementia patterns; however, SPECT and PET imaging show the most significant brain changes in the temporal lobes, creating overlap with the logopenic variant of Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), a subtype within the frontotemporal dementia spectrum. Nothing in this blog is meant as medical, legal, or service dog advice; what I share here comes from lived experience—an attempt to design around decline and make daily life more workable—so please use your own judgment and consult professionals who understand your specific situation.
