Reality of Hallucinations

Last week I had a visit from my son & grandson who live abroad and we did quite a bit of walking which I much enjoy.

One day I was following my grandson down a steep hillside seeing him ahead ‘leaping like a young goat’ and had to pause for breath.
My son caught up with me, followed, to my great surprise, by my grandson, and they asked why I was in such a hurry.

I explained, because I was somehow concerned my grandson he would trip and go over the edge,
so I wanted to catch up with him.

It was strange seeing him clearly in front of me as I pointed him out to them, even though they were standing behind me.

I realised of course it was a hallucination.

Many do not realise that hallucinations are as real as true reality, very different to delusions.

They did not laugh at me, but ‘leaping like a young goat’ has now entered the family archives!

According to the Lewy Body Dementia Association,
Recurrent complex visual hallucinations (typically well formed and detailed)
are a core feature of Lewy Body Dementia.
